Benelli, the Italian automobile maker is very serious about the Indian market. They are into the low price segment now by launching Benelli Imperiale 400 which is a direct competitor for the Royal Enfield’s Classic 350.

Royal Enfiled’s Classic 350 has been dominating the market without any direct competition these years. But things have started to change with Jawa entering into the market. Now Benelli has taken its chance to face Royal Enfield with its Retro and Classic looking, Imperiale 400.

Retro and Classic with a modern touch would be the perfect way to describe this motorcycle. It comes with more chrome appearing on the indicators, headlamp and taillamp. Round headlamp with double circular instrumental cluster and teardrop tank design gives you a nostalgia. Headlight, however, comes with a halogen setup.

Imperiale 400 comes with spoke wheels and has disc brakes both at the front and back. The front comes with a telescopic suspension and rear with pre-load adjust. The Rear looks just as good as the front in addition with the chrome to taillight and indicators. Which gives it a retro charm. Split seat design is simple and looks neat. Comes in three colours Red, Black and Silver.

Instrument cluster.

The instrument cluster in Benelli’s Imperiale 400 is surely better than Royal Enfield’s Classic 350. Imperiale 400 comes with a digital-analogue unit with a twin-pod instrument cluster. It provides way lot of information like tachometer, twin trip meters, gear position indicators and other readouts. It also comes with a fuel gauge whereas on the other hand Royal Enfiled still missies out one.

Benelli’s Imperiale 400 comes with 374cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine mated to a 5speed gearbox. It produces 21ps of power at 5500 rpm and 29 nm torque at 4500 rpm so, you can cruise all-day at speeds 80-100. Therefore it can be a good highway cruiser.

Final verdict.

To sum up, Benelli has more specs and feels fresh when compared to Royal Enfield but Benelli has a limited-service centre at present. However, Benelli is trying to add more service stations.

In short Benelli Imperiale 400 is a great bike with a retro, classic and comes with a modern touch and gives you that 90’s nostalgia which is why you should consider buying it for a few thousand bucks extra compared to Royal Enfield’s Classic 350.
